The Senate Health and Human Services Committee voted today to pass Senate Bill 28 out of committee by a vote of 5-4. The committee heard testimony on this smoke-free legislation at today’s 10 a.m. committee hearing.

The following statement can be attributed to Melinda Little, co-chair of the Smoke-Free Texas Coalition:

“We applaud the Senate Health and Human Services committee chairwoman, Senator Jane Nelson, and members of the committee that provided favorable consideration of this important smoke-free legislation.

“We strongly urge our state lawmakers to take immediate action on the Senate and House floors to pass this significant legislation that will save thousands of lives and millions of dollars for Texas taxpayers.”
